Rep. Wittke's E-Update

Workforce Recovery

In June, Republicans proposed a bill to withdraw Wisconsin from federal programs that offer bonus unemployment payments. The bill was developed to help address the current worker shortage plaguing businesses across the state. Over 40 industry groups and Chambers of Commerce organizations across the state applauded the legislation. It passed in both houses of the Legislature, but failed to become law because the Governor vetoed it. Last week, the Assembly used its authority to convene and attempt to override the veto. Unfortunately, Assembly Democrats failed to put politics aside and the override attempt fell short. The labor crisis has reached every corner of our state and many politicians continue to tell our small businesses that the worker crisis is fake. Elected Republicans are continuing to fight to help workers and businesses grow a strong economy despite roadblocks like this from the Governor. In the new budget we invested in our workforce with funding to help our youth, disabled individuals and veterans find employment and get training. We also increased rates for the Wisconsin Shares program to assist lower income working parents with child care.

Three Harbors Council Eagle Scouts

In 2017, Boy Scouts of America became known as Scouts BSA, and invited the first class of female scouts to join the ranks. Now, after a bit of time and hard work, many of those first female scouts are graduating as Eagle Scouts, the highest rank achieveable for BSA.

Recently, the Three Harbors Council of Scouts BSA announced and congratulated four young ladies that will receive the honor this year, three of whom are from Racine County.

Jaisyn Daher - Caledonia - Scouts BSA Troop 2002

Annie Scheidt - Racine - Scouts BSA Troop 218

Cassie Scheidt - Racine - Scouts BSA Troop 218

Annastasia Wischki - Saukville - Scouts BSA Troop 338

Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout rank is not an easy task. In addition to learning skills, the scouts must also take on leadership roles and complete a community service project.

I was pleased to honor and present Annie and Cassie Scheidt with congratulatory legislative citations as new Eagle Scouts from the 62nd Assembly District during their Court of Honor. I look forward to continuing this time honored tradition in the future. My most sincere congratulations to all Three Harbors Council Eagle Scouts on your incredible accomplishments!

Racine County Fair

The 2021 Racine County Fair was a great event, filled with delicious food, games and families and friends enjoying a beautiful Racine summer. I was fortunate enough to volunteer at the Racine County Farm Bureau Booth, attend the livestock auction and interact with many constituents of the 62nd Assembly District. It was great to meet people and participate in all the activities - Thank you for all who stopped to say hello! For those who missed the Racine County Fair, take in the summer fun at the Wisconsin State Fair, beginning August 5th and ending August 15th.
